Live storm data
Cloudflare Pages requests the NHC CurrentStorms.json file and caches it for up to five minutes. An open page checks again every five minutes. New values appear only after NHC publishes them.
Time and availability
Each storm shows its NHC advisory issue time. A failed feed request is labeled unavailable; we do not substitute an old number and call it live. When Polo leaves the active feed, this page directs readers to the NHC archive.
Scope
The NHC feed covers storms in its advisory areas, not every cyclone worldwide. Graphics are linked to NHC, and local emergency authorities remain the source for location-specific instructions.
Frequently asked questions
Does “checked five minutes ago” mean NHC issued a new forecast?
No. It is the time our site checked the feed. The advisory issue time beside each storm indicates when NHC issued that forecast.
What happens during an outage?
The page labels the feed unavailable and hides storm values instead of displaying old figures as current. Use the linked NHC site directly.
Can I use this site for emergency decisions?
